Drive through the Icelandic highlands in a brawny Super Jeep designed to traverse the most challenging terrain. Travel caravan-style through the geological wonders of Pingvillir National Park, behold Gullfoss waterfall and Strokkur geyser, and drive across lava fields and through the Valley of The Thousand Waters. And what could be more exhilarating than exploring across a volcanically formed landscape to Langjökull Glacier, onboard the Monster Truck Safari. Relaxing Icelandic-style in the geothermally heated Secret Lagoon also distinguishes this adventure.
NOTE: This program involves three days of being driven in 4x4 off-road vehicles called “Super Jeeps”, as well as a glacial monster truck tour. Guests with back injuries should not participate as the roads and trails may be quite bumpy.
DAY 1
After flying into Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik, you will proceed to the baggage claim area and through Customs, after which you will be met by your driver. After checking into the hotel in Reykjavik, you can enjoy the remainder of the day as you please. Any meals are on your own.
Your hotel is in midtown Reykjavik, a short walk to the central core of the city.
DAY 2
Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will drive off in 4x4 vehicles. Crafted for uniquely tough conditions, these vehicles are custom-built with up to three transmissions, two steering systems, turbocharged engines, an array of radio equipment, marine-type satellite navigation and the world’s biggest road-legal tires. Only professional drivers, who are often the owners, are allowed to pilot them. These vehicles have been used off road to cross Antarctica and traverse the wild Icelandic highlands. They are just as suitable for highway driving.
Your caravan of Super 4x4 vehicles will head towards Þingvellir National Park, a remarkable geological phenomenon and important historical site. Located by Þingvallavatn, the biggest lake in Iceland, Þingvellir is where the world’s oldest democratic parliament was founded in 930 AD.
The beautiful canyon running through the park is the meeting point of two tectonic plates. UNESCO deemed the area a World Heritage site because of its combination of natural phenomena and historical significance.
Back in your vehicle, you will next drive to Gullfoss waterfall, which roars through a rugged canyon before plummeting more than 100 feet. The water from the White River falls in two stages, which adds even more drama to its descent. Gullfoss means Golden Waterfall in Icelandic because of the color of the water, which originates from a sediment-rich glacier.
After lunch at Gullfoss Café, another extraordinary adventure awaits you at Langjökull glacier, where you will go on a monster truck safari on Iceland’s second-biggest glacier. Langjökull is an endless source of adventure with plenty of off-road opportunities.
Local guides will lead you through this stunning natural wonder. Listen to interesting facts about glaciers, hear authentic stories of the Icelandic Highlands, and dive into the fascinating world of Nordic Mythology.
We stop at a scenic spot on the glacier with stunning views. Here you can enjoy at our Glacier pop-up Cafe - hot cocoa, coffee or tea, and Kleinur (an Icelandic pastry), and taste the purest water straight from the glacier.
For thrill-seekers, don't miss the chance to sled down the slopes or play golf atop the glacier (subject to weather and glacier conditions).
After the monster truck safari, you will drive to the Geysir geothermal area, where you will see abundant hot springs, as well as the famous geyser Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, shooting a column of hot water high into the air.
After this day of rugged adventure, your accommodation for the night will be the Land Hotel in the south of Iceland.
DAY 3
Following breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for the Secret Lagoon, a geothermal area near the village of Flúðir. The Secret Lagoon was created in 1891 and is one of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland. The natural surroundings and steam rising into the air lend the setting a magical feeling. Around the lagoon, you will find several hot spots and a walking path that allows a closer look at the boiling hot springs.
After a relaxing dip in the Secret Lagoon, you will head to the Greenhouse Friðheimar for a unique lunch experience in Friðheimar Winebar & Bistro and enjoy the famous tomato soup and bread combination with basil and basil-olive oil plus the Winebar salad, which consists of Piccolo-tomatoes, blueberries, cranberries, mozzarella pearls, basil and all kinds of nuts and seeds with hot-smoked salmon and horseradish cream. Also offered is a cheeseplatter with Icelandic cheeses and snacks for sharing. Quite the culinary delight.
You will also gain an insight into the history of this remarkable greenhouse and its horticulture where tomatoes are grown all year round despite Iceland’s long, dark winters with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable, biological methods and enjoy a taste of the crop.
Back in Reykjavík, you will check into your hotel for an evening at your leisure with dinner on your own.
NOTE: there are change facilities at the Secret Lagoon and towels will be provided.
DAY 4
Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will meet your driver for another adventure in the volcanic countryside. It will start with a pleasant drive through Hafnarfjörður town, situated on an ancient lava flow. Driving towards Kleifarvatn Lake, you will take an interesting off-road shortcut that will show off the capabilities of your 4x4 vehicle. The tuff stone mountains, reflected in the waters of the lake, lend an eerie stillness to the surroundings that make the folk tales of serpent-like lake monsters sound almost believable.
After pausing for photos, you will continue to the multicolored deposits from the hot springs of Seltún, where you can walk among the boiling mud pools and hissing steam vents. It looks like an otherworldly landscape with bright yellow, red and green steamy soil.
Another stop will be made at photogenic Grænavatn or “green lake,” a crater from a volcanic eruption that filled with bright green water. Grænavatn is one of the most noteworthy phenomena of its kind in Iceland.
You will then continue across breathtaking lava fields with a stop at Strandarkirkja Church prior to lunch of Icelandic lobster at a restaurant by the ocean. Afterwards, you will head off the beaten track by following a trail known as The Thousand Waters, where the road winds through numerous rivers, mud banks and streams.
In time, you will be dropped off at the pier for embarkation.
NOTE: your luggage will be taken from the hotel to the ship while you are on tour.

Check in time at the hotel is 3:00pm
Following breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will depart for a full day of touring on the magnificent west coast of Iceland.
Your first stop is at Deildartunguhver, Europe´s most powerful hot spring. It provides 180 l/sec of 100°C hot water.
Most of the water used for central heating in the towns of Borgarnes and Akranes is taken from Deildartunguhver. The hot water pipeline to Akranes is 64 km long, the longest in Iceland and the water is about 78 - 80°C when it reaches Akranes. If you take a shower anywhere within a 65 km radius of the spring, you have already bathed in the hot water from this powerful spring!
Next, get to know little bit about Iceland’s past heroes with a visit to Snorralaug (Snorri’s Sturluson bath) in the small town of Reykholt. Snorri was a poet, historian and politician born into a powerful chieftain family in the 13th century. Although you can no longer bathe here, you will learn how the thermal water from the hot spring Skrifla is led to the basin through a conduit.
Continue your drive to Hraunfossar Lava Falls, a beautiful and unusual natural phenomenal that has been protected since 1987. Clear, cold springs of subterranean water seep through the lava and run as tiny waterfalls and rapids into the Hvita River.
Next, stop at another waterfall, Barnafoss “Children´s Fall”, a magical site in and of itself, twisting, turning, foaming and churning as it races down a narrow valley, from which you can view it from above. Barnafoss has also been a protected site since 1987. You will then head to lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, another adventure awaits you at the largest of all caves in Iceland, Víðgelmir. It is the size of 148,000 cubic meters, and one of the largest lava caves in the world. It has beautiful ice formations and deep inside there are lava stalactites and stalagmites. Víðgelmir lava cave is considered by specialists to be one of the most remarkable caves on earth.
Finally, you will reach your accommodation for the evening - Hotel Húsafell or similar countryside hotel. A three-course dinner is included.
Following breakfast and check- out, you will depart for the Golden Circle tour ending in Reykjavík.
First stop is at the Secret Lagoon where guests can opt to take a dip in natural hot springs, located in the geothermal area near the village of Flúðir. The Secret Lagoon was made in 1891 and is one of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland. The pool’s natural surroundings and steam rising into the air give the place a magical feeling. Around the lagoon you will find several hot spots and a walking path so guests can have a closer look at the boiling hot springs.
NOTE: There are change facilities at the Secret Lagoon and towels will be provided
Followed by Secret Lagoon the group will enjoy a unique food experience at Friðheimar, a family-owned restaurant.

The water from the White River falls in two stages, which adds even more drama to its descent. Gullfoss means Golden Waterfall in Icelandic because of the color of the water, which originates from a sediment-rich glacier.
Drive to Geysir, geothermal area where your will have the opportunity to see hot springs in abundances as well as the famous geyser "Strokkur" that spouts every few minutes, shooting column of piping hot water up to 20m (60 feet).
Drive towards Þingvellir National Park, a remarkable geological phenomenon and the most important historical site in Iceland. Þingvellir is situated by the biggest lake in Iceland called Þingvallavatn, the site of the world`s oldest democratic parliament founded in the year 930. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth`s tectonic plates and the area`s combination of natural phenomena and historical significance make it inseparable from the fabric of Icelandic national life. In 2004 the site of Þingvellir was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Your overnight is back at the Hotel Borg and dinner is on your own.
Enjoy breakfast, check out and depart for a drive through the rugged lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula en route to Iceland´s most popular attraction - the incomparable Blue Lagoon. Here you will have the option to enjoy a unique bathing experience in the lagoon. Towels will be provided and changerooms are available.
Returning to the city’s hustle and bustle you’ll drive through the seaside town of Hafnarfjörður on your way to rural Álftanes, where the President of Iceland resides at Bessastaðir for a short photostop before making your way to Perlan or The Pearl, one of the Reykjavik’s landmark buildings, where you will find a viewing deck that offers great panoramic views over Reykjavik as well as the world’s first indoor ice cave, learn about the forces of nature and witness how Iceland was formed.

Expected Weather:
The weather in Iceland can be extremely unpredictable however June, July and August are the official summer months. Also note that it is bright all day and night in the summer months. In June, Iceland celebrates their longest days of the year. And literally, for a few weeks – the sun simply does not set at all.
Luggage will accompany the group. Although staying in the best hotels in the area, porterage service is not a standard service in Icelandic hotels. Very few hotels in Iceland have porterage staff full time and if they do it is normally 1 porter. As a result, you could experience a delay in receiving your luggage to your room depending on the size of the group. You may prefer to take your suitcase with you to your rooms.
Hotels address:
•2 nights at Hotel Borg or similar hotel – Standard room including breakfast
•1 night at the Hotel Húsafell or similar hotel - Superior room including breakfast
Please Note: Guests booking their own flights (independent of the cruise line) are responsible for ensuring that the cruise line has the updated departure information, so your transfer can be arranged.
After disembarking the ship in Reykjavik, your group will drive off in 4x4 vehicles. Super Jeeps have been used off road to cross Antarctica and traverse the wild Icelandic highlands. They are just as suitable for highway driving.
After this day of rugged adventure, your accommodation for the night will be the Land Hotel or similar in the south of Iceland.
Following breakfast, depart for the Secret Lagoon where you will learn how Icelanders use geothermal hot water to nourish both their body and soul.
Your first stop is for an optional dip in The Secret Lagoon which is located in the geothermal area near the village of Flúðir. The Secret Lagoon was made in 1891 and is one of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland. The pools natural surroundings and steam rising into the air give the place a magical feeling. Around the lagoon you will find several hot spots and a walking path built so you can have a closer look at the boiling hot springs.
When you arrive back to Reykjavík, check into the Reykjavik Marina Hotel or similar and spend the reminder of the day as you please. Dinner is on your own.
Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will meet your Super Jeep driver for another adventure in the volcanic countryside.
Return to Reykjavik where the remainder of the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.
Following breakfast and check-out, you will transfer to the Keflavik Airport based on your flight departure time. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your transfer.

Nature prevails on this epic adventure in southern Iceland, where you will view the most awe-inspiring natural wonders. The sights include roaring waterfalls, rugged volcanically formed landscapes and ancient blue-tinted glaciers, one of which you will drive across in a monster truck. A soothing dip in a geothermally heated lagoon will offer an experience of an entirely different sort. Geological phenomena also dominate the landscape of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site even better known as the setting for the world’s oldest parliament.
Today is devoted to an enlightening exploration of the south coast of Iceland. Be awed by the power of nature at a lava show, watch the pounding sea that has carved stunning rock formations at Black Beach and witness the majestic beauty of the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. You will also browse exhibits showcasing 19th-century rural life, culture and architecture at Skogar Folk Museum.
Later, you will enjoy a group dinner and spend a delightful evening in the Hotel Lóa in Hvolsvöllur.
Overnight at the Hotel Lóa or similar hotel.
Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will depart the south coast and travel inland to the Golden Circle, a spectacularly scenic route that loops from one natural wonder to another. As you drive through the countryside, you will visit the Geysir geothermal area – where the Strokkur geyser erupts every few minutes – ride a monster truck across Langjökull Glacier and behold the glacial golden waters of the Gullfoss cascade. You can also ease into the geothermally heated waters of the Laugarás Lagoon before continuing on to Thingvellir National Park, home to Iceland’s largest natural lake, Thingvallavatn.

At the Blue Lagoon, you will enjoy a unique bathing experience and lunch at the Lava restaurant.
The lava-scarred Reykjanes peninsula lies on one of the world’s major tectonic-plate boundaries, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Bridge Between Continents is a small footbridge over a major fissure that provides clear evidence of the presence of the diverging plate margin. The bridge was built as a symbol for the connection between Europe and North America.
The picturesque Gardskagaviti lighthouse sits on the tip of the peninsula. The Danish built the beacon in 1897, although it has since been replaced by another lighthouse close by.
You will also stop at the Viking World Museum, which houses an authentic 9th-century Viking ship and features all sorts of exhibitions about the Viking Age.
