Claudine Pépin’s Autumn Signature Sailing
Last month, Godmother Claudine Pépin proudly welcomed elegant Sirena to the Oceania Cruises fleet. The Christening and Inaugural Voyage marked the special occasion with celebratory events such as the godmother portrait unveiling, a cooking demonstration and a book signing. The excitement for Sirena continues – with Inaugural Season Exclusives through 2016, and our much-awaited Signature Sailing with Claudine this fall.
We recently caught up with Claudine to find out what she’s looking forward to on her Signature Sailing, what’s been cooking in her kitchen and more.
Tell us about what you are most looking forward to on your Signature Sailing aboard
Sirena this fall. There couldn’t possibly be just one event – everything is special on Sirena. I am certainly looking forward to eating a few lunches at Jacques Bistro during sea days. I’m also looking forward to my cooking demonstrations, which will be with my husband, Rollie, who is a chef, and a culinary instructor at Johnson & Wales – so it will not only be fun but we will all learn something. I’m also excited to visit my home – the East Coast, as an adventurer and traveler.
Since this voyage sails in your home region, which destinations are you excited about the most on this autumn itinerary? It will be a wonderful adventure to taste our way up the East Coast on this voyage! Autumn is a cozy and comforting food season, and this itinerary offers delicious and authentic destinations that I can’t wait to explore with our guests. I will be looking for my holiday culinary inspiration in every port.
What’s been popular in your kitchen this spring? And what about autumn -- anything you love to cook during that season? Our family always cooks what’s in season. That’s when food tastes the very best – when it is in season and grown locally. One of the many joys of a voyage on Sirena with Oceania Cruises is discovering so many wonderful local and in-season destinations. You can see, touch, smell and taste every season.

About Claudine Pépin, Chef & Godmother of Sirena
As a cookbook author and the daughter and co-host of legendary Master Chef Jacques Pépin, Claudine Pépin has long been rooted in the culinary world – and the Oceania Cruises family. Claudine’s first cookbook, Let’s Cook French, was published last year and is an homage to French family home cooking. She first began joining her father aboard Oceania Cruises in 2009 for cooking demonstrations and special events. Many came to know Claudine as she partnered with her father on his James Beard award-winning television series. Earlier in her career, she served as the brand ambassador for Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon Champagne in New York while teaching food and wine pairing at the French Culinary Institute (now known as the International Culinary Center) and the Sommelier Society in New York. In 2002, Claudine was honored by the Académie Culinaire de France – Filiale des Etats-Unis, which named her “Woman of the Year.”
